FINAL AIKMAN RATINGS
The Packers edge out the Ravens for the 2011 Aikman Combined title in what could be a preview of Super Bowl XLVI, but the surging Saints are just 0.4 behind and the top eight teams, all of whom made the playoffs, are within six points of the top.
Including the Steelers, the top nine teams all made the playoffs.

It was a historic year for Aikman Offense with a record league rating of 78.9 (since 1995). But the bulk of that surge falls on the back of three historic offenses. The final rating of the Saints (98.8) just missed the record of 99.0 set by the great 2007 Patriots team and the Packers and this year’s edition of the Patriots lined up right behind to give 2011 three of the top four Aikman Offenses in our 17-year history.

The 49ers nosed out the Ravens for the 2011 Aikman Defense title with the Harbaugh brothers each having a clear edge of six points or so over the third-place Texans.
The Steelers, number one in the NFL’s yards-only measurement are not so highly rated by the Aikman measurements, largely due to a lack of turnovers forced and being below average on those occasions when teams reach their red zone.
